The Artist

Many of Micheál’s more recent artworks can be seen publicly through his roadside sculptures, where he has mastered a unique craft of working with stainless steel as his preferred sculpting medium.

Previously Micheál’s worked predominately with oil, pen and-ink, pencil and acrylic. These earlier pieces captivate the humble Irish landscape with disposition, perceptiveness and precision. His ship-wreck and battle-scenes in particular captivate the viewer with sobering effect and illustrate his passion for history.

Micheál’s extensive knowledge and passion of his local area of Co.Louth is portrayed through many of his works. When asked about the influence Co.Louth has had on his art, he replied “I rarely have to leave the area for inspiration. There’s enough beauty and history right here for a lifetime of work”.
